We were contacted via referral to renovate the back yard of a 1960s brick ranch. The homeowners desired to have a relaxing space for hobbies and for entertaining. They also wanted privacy from nearby houses. One homeowner spent time in Japanese during childhood. The other was raised in New England and had an affinity for conifers and boulders. We endeavored to incorporate the childhood memories of both homeowners into a functional space. As the cryptomerias and weeping yaupon holly develop, the homeowners will have the screening they desire.
